Boards

Now at an interesting point in the competition: less than one week to go, and we're all working on more or less the same tasks. As a result, this is the part of the project that has the least individual influence and most team discussion, as everything produced has to correlate and fit into a predetermined and therefore somewhat inflexible scheme.

T-Minus 12 days

We now have a complete building form (massing) and have made some definitive design solutions for the site. The the work over the upcoming two weeks will largely be a mix of board layouts and design finalization.

In order to make the deadline, we can't get too caught up in "finishing" the design. If parts of it are only designed for the rendering, that's ok, because we don't have enough time/space to show the design in full. So as long as we can show some restraint and design selectively, we should be on time for the deadline.

Weekend Modelling - 04/18

This weekend I got to work building a model. While I was working on my own, I had to constantly take into account some of the design decisions my team and I had discussed. This slowed the process considerably. I think n the future for independent model making, I'll create some very rough sketch models first which can be reviewed by the other team members, before I created a more 'finished' version.

Meeting Thursday, 04/15

Today's meeting with our advisers went well. We decided prior to the meeting to go against some of their advise regarding program choice. Instead, we'd returned to a previous idea, but refined it and related it better, program wise, to the site and to Chicago as a whole.

At this point, we are fixed on this program and have a considerable amount of design work to do over the weekend. We are meeting again on Tuesday with Sapir and John, and need to have the design fully modeled, as well as correlated images laid out on the boards.
